Who we are

Church of the Nazarene

The Baker City Church of the Nazarene is part of the worldwide Church of the Nazarene with over 30,500 churches and 2.4 million members.  As the largest denomination in the classical Wesleyan-Holiness tradition, it is distinguished from most other Christian denominations by the doctrine of entire sanctification. Nazarenes believe that God calls Christians to a life of holy living that is marked by an act of God, cleansing the heart from original sin and filling the individual with love for God and humankind.

The church's Mission Statement:

To Make Christlike Disciples in the Nations

WHAT WE BELIEVE

The Church of the Nazarene is the largest denomination in the Wesleyan-Arminian theological tradition. Nazarenes believe that God calls Christians to a life of holy living that is marked by an act of God, cleansing the heart from original sin and filling the individual with love for God and humankind. This experience is marked by entire consecration of the believer to do God’s will and is followed by a life of seeking to serve God through service to others. Our pursuant service to God is an act of love whereby we show our appreciation for the grace that has been extended to us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We are in 155 world areas, and are committed to sharing the Gospel with all people. Our mission statement is “To make Christlike disciples in the nations.”

We believe in Christian higher education, and have dozens of Universities and Bible Colleges around the world.

The core values of the Church of The Nazarene are brief:

    • We are a Christian people.
    • We are a Holiness people.
    • We are a Missional people.

We desire, on the local church level, to know Jesus, and to make Him known to others through relevant teaching, authentic worship, and caring fellowship by the power of the Holy Spirit.
